As of December 31, 2009, it served 820,000 customers located in western Missouri and eastern Kansas comprising 724,000 residences and 95,000 commercial firms, as well as 2,300 industrials, municipalities, and other electric utilities. The company was founded in 1919 and is headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri.
